The Superhero Fun Run for a Cure was originally created to raise funds to support a candidate of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Man and Woman of the Year (MWOY) campaign in 2014. With the success of the first superhero run, the candidate raised over $11,000. The next year the race was organized to support a Woman of the Year campaign. In 2016, the Superhero Fun Run for a Cure donated the proceeds of the event to the LLS through its Team in Training campaign. This year the race will again be supporting a candidate of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Man and Woman of the Year campaign. The LLS' goal is to defeat blood cancer.
